Biography

Professor Giuseppe CARDILLO is the chair of  Thoracic Surgery at Azienda Ospedaliera San Camillo Forlanini in Rome, Italy. He is The President of the  Italian Society of Thoracic Endoscopy ( SIET) ;  the Chair of ERS( European Respiratory Society)  Thoracic Surgery Group; the Director of EACTS ( European Association for CardioThoracic Surgery) Academy Thoracic Surgery Course 1, and the Director of ACOI-SICT  ( Societa’ Italiana di Chirurgia Toracica) School of Thoracic Surgery.

He is councillor of ITMIG ( International Thymic Malignancies Interest Group).

He is co-chair of The “Pneumothorax “ ERS-EACTS-ESTS joint task force, of the “GGO “ EACTS-ESTS task force, and of the ERS Benign pleural effusion task force. He has been co-chair of the ERS-EACTS -ESTS-ESTRO Malignant pleural Mesothelioma task force.

He is member of the “ Staging and Prognostic Factors Committee” of the IASLC , involved in Nodal Staging update.

He is Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England ( FRCS) and Fellow of the European Board of Thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons (FETCS).

He is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Oncology  ( IF 6) and Guest Editor of Journal of Clinical Medicine ( IF 4.9) ; he is also editorial board member of European Respiratory Journal (ERJ) ( IF 33.8).

In the past, he has been Locum Consultant Thoracic surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester , Glenfield Hospital , Leicester(UK)( 2007) and Fellow Thoracic Surgeon at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg (S) ( 1996).

His main clinical interest is minimally invasive thoracic surgery  either by VATS and by RATS ( robot Da Vinci Xi),  locally advanced NSCLC , Mesothelioma, Thymoma, and tracheal surgery.

He is also involved in lung cancer screening.
