Biography

She was Head of the Centralised Authorisation/Post-Authorisation Offices of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA).

She was Alternate Delegate Member for Italy to the Committee for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Observer to the EMA’s Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT), London.

Member of AIFA Scientific Secretariat for the “Surveillance of COVID-19 vaccines” and Coordinator of the working group on ‘Monoclonal antibodies’ authorised for emergency use during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Formerly, Aggregate Professor at the University of Tor Vergata (SSD BIO/14) where, in addition to her research activities, she taught in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses. She was supervisor for theses in the Tor Vergata ‘Master’s Degree Course in Neuroscience’ and a member of Degree Commissions in the degree courses in Medicine and Surgery ‘Tor Vergata’, and Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology ‘La Sapienza’ – Rome.

She worked for three years as Scientific Researcher at the ‘Kimmel Cancer Institute’, Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, USA).

She graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Catania.

She attended the National School of Public Administration (SNA) – 26th cycle of training activities for new public managers, Rome SNA – Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Her research activity has focused on the field of molecular biology applied to cell differentiation, in particular neuronal differentiation from totipotent stem cells with potential therapeutic application in response to neuronal damage. She has also conducted research on the molecular mechanisms of apoptosis related to chemotherapy resistance.

She is a member of the editorial board of several international scientific journals as well as reviewer of scientific papers for international journals.

Member of several national and international societies of Pharmacology and Neuroscience.

Author and co-author of numerous international publications (PubMed).
