UniCamillus’ happiness, pride and even a touch of nostalgia at the graduation ceremony of the first MSc Medicine and Surgery graduates

Pride, emotion, gratitude and even a touch of nostalgia: all of these emotions were in the air at UniCamillus on Tuesday 15th October, during a graduation ceremony which saw the new MSc Medicine and Surgery graduates being handed their diplomas. These were, in fact, the students who started their studies at our University six years ago, exactly when it was founded. Some had already defended their dissertation last July, others in the autumn graduation session. For all of them, this ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate their milestone together, in the same environment that has seen them grow over the years. For the University, the Rector, the tutors and all the staff, it was a joy to see the results of their daily commitment and passion, so that these students can finally spread their wings towards their ambitions and goals.

Representatives of the 60 young men and women attended this important ceremony in the Auditorium yesterday: some of them even took to the stage to speak briefly about their experiences. One of them, Maria Stella Anselmi, wished to highlight one aspect in particular: “Today, as medical practitioners, we are leaving this University that we consider our home. And as we prepare for a new beginning, I ask you, now and always, to remember why we made this journey: to try to make a difference, to be that helping hand, that encouraging smile, that healing hope”. She was joined by Gianluca Cappuccini, former student representative of the MSc Medicine and Surgery, who said: “I have had the privilege of living here, at UniCamillus, a journey full of challenges but also of great satisfaction, marked by a strong spirit of belonging and community”. Then, with a melancholy smile, he recalled the many activities and initiatives, both educational and non-curricular, that have been carried out over these years, thanks to the University and together with his fellow students, and added: “These six years are a key chapter in my life, an experience that will remain in my heart forever. It has truly been an extraordinary adventure and I already miss UniCamillus”.
