Biography

Prof. Simone Cerciello is an orthopedic surgeon specialized in prosthetic surgery and sports traumatology. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors in 2000 and in 2005 he completed hiss residency program in Orthopedics and Traumatology with honors at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (UCSC) in Rome.

In 2009 he obtained the II level University Master on “Degenerative Knee Pathology” at UNIMOL and in 2012 the I Level Master on “Shoulder Pathology and Biomechanics” at UNIBO. He was a research fellow in 2013 at the University of Molise, Campobasso.

He is eligible Associate Professor from 2013 and as Full Professor from 2018.

From 2009 to 2014 he was Adjunct Professor at the University of Molise.

From October 2024  Associate Professor at UniCamillus.

Since 2020 he is contract professor at the Residency program in Orthopedics and Traumatology and Sports Medicine of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart.

He won the following international awards:  German Society of Orthopedic and Traumatic sports Medicine travelling fellowship (2010), European Knee Society Travelling fellowship (2015), Insall-Scott American Hip and Knee replacement travelling fellowship (2015), European Shoulder and Elbow Society travelling fellowship (2017), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine travelling fellowship (2019).

He is currently chair of the center of excellence of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery Arthroscopy at the Villa Betania Clinic in Rome and chair of the center of excellence of the SIAGASCOT at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.

He is an orthopedic consultant for Vatican City State, FAO, CONI and the General Command of the Carabinieri. He is the author of 180 extenso publications, 106 of which on Pubmed.

He is a member of the board of International Journals (KSSTA, AOTS, Joints) and International Societies (ESSKA, SECEC, ISAKOS).

Prof. Cerciello has gained clinical experience in the different aspects of orthopedic pathology.

From a surgical point of view, the main areas of interest range from prosthetic surgery of the major joints (knee, hip and shoulder) to sports traumatology, with particular emphasis on arthroscopic surgery.
