Alessandra Alteri
Alessandra Alteri obtained her Master’s degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology, as well as her PhD in Cellular and Developmental Biology, from the University of Rome “Sapienza.” She began her career as a clinical embryologist in 2012 and has been working at the IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute since 2015. In 2018, she earned the ESHRE Certification of Senior Embryologist from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
She currently serves as the Coordinator of the ESHRE Special Interest Group on Safety and Quality in Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Embryology, Reproduction, and Research (SIERR).
From 2021 to 2024, she was an Adjunct Professor of Biology at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. She is currently Adjunct Professor of Histology at UniCamillus – Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences in Rome, Italy.
Dr. Alteri has authored or co-authored approximately 60 scientific articles, reviews, and book chapters. She also serves as a reviewer for several leading journals in reproductive medicine and is a Sector Editor for Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology journal.
Her current areas of interest include in vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, studies of human gametes, zygote and embryo morphology in relation to their developmental ability and chromosomal constitution as well as the cryopreservation of embryos and oocytes.
