Obtained her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biomedicine from the University of Westminster (London, UK), followed by two master’s degrees (MSc): one in Human Nutrition and Metabolism from the University of Aberdeen (UK), and another in Medical Immunology from King’s College London (UK). She subsequently completed a PhD in Immunology at King’s College London, with a thesis focused on the role of endothelial cells in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes.
She carried out postdoctoral research at several internationally renowned institutions, including King’s College London (UK), Yale University (USA), and the California Institute for Biomedical Research in San Diego (USA), focusing on monocytes and macrophages and their roles in inflammation.
In 2014, she joined the research unit of Histology and Embryology (DAHFMO) at Sapienza University of Rome, where she investigated the immune response in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
From 2022 to June 2025, she held the position of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTD-B) of Histology and Embryology at LUM University (Bari), school of Medicine.
She is currently leading a research project on trained immunity in Duchenne muscular dystrophy, funded by Parent Project Italy.
She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and actively collaborates with several national and international research groups.
As of July 2025, she holds the position of Associate Professor of Histology and Embryology at UniCamillus University.
