Prof. Danny Adrian Spampinato earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, and received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (USA). He later completed postdoctoral research at University College London (UK).
Throughout his career, he has gained international research experience in leading laboratories across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Italy. He is currently Associate Professor of Physiology at UniCamillus International University of Health Sciences and Research Fellow at Fondazione Santa Lucia IRCCS in Rome.
His expertise lies in the use of non-invasive brain stimulation to investigate the neurophysiological mechanisms of motor learning and functional recovery. His research particularly focuses on cerebellar–motor cortex interactions to advance the understanding of brain plasticity in rehabilitation contexts.
His current interests include applying neuromodulation to improve clinical outcomes in stroke survivors and patients with ataxia, with the aim of developing targeted and personalized therapeutic strategies. He collaborates on multidisciplinary projects that integrate brain stimulation, behavioral assessment, and neuroimaging to explore adaptive processes of the motor system in both healthy and clinical populations.
