Domenico Tripodi

Domenico Tripodi is a Medical Doctor specialized in General Surgery with advanced experience in breast surgery as well as reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery. He graduated with honors from the University of Rome’s “Tor Vergata,” completed his specialization in General Surgery at the University of Rome’s “La Sapienza,” and earned a PhD in Advanced Technologies in Surgery from the same institution. He undertook advanced training programs and fellowships at prestigious institutions such as the Hôpital Bichat-Claude Bernard in Paris (University Paris VII Denis Diderot), specializing in oncoplastic breast reconstruction and post-bariatric surgery, working alongside Prof. Cannistrà, one of the pioneers of breast reconstruction and post-bariatric plastic surgery in Europe. He is a Senior Consultant in the Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Unit at Policlinico di Monza. His clinical experience includes over 1,600 surgical procedures, more than 800 of which as lead surgeon, with particular focus on oncologic and reconstructive breast surgery, complex body contouring in post-bariatric patients, endocrine surgery, and dermato-oncology.

He is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, with an H-index of 12 and nearly 500 citations. He serves as an editor and reviewer for several international journals, including Frontiers in Surgery (Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery section), Journal of Personalized Medicine, and BMC Surgery.

He has obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor (II level) in the academic recruitment sector 06/C-MED18, and teaches in university master’s programs and postgraduate courses at the University of Rome “La Sapienza.”

Dr. Tripodi is also the principal investigator in several research projects and has been an invited speaker at numerous scientific conferences.

Beyond his clinical and academic work, he is actively involved in global health and global medical cooperation initiatives. Since 2021, he has participated in several international missions in Benin (Africa), focused on breast cancer screening and surgical training, in collaboration with local hospitals and universities.
