Applied Biology - BIOS-10/A

Francesca Paola Luongo is a Tenure-Track Researcher in Cellular and Applied Biology at UniCamillus Medical University. She earned her degree in Biotechnology at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli,” her Master’s in Reproductive Biotechnology with honors at the University of Teramo, and a PhD in Molecular Medicine at the University of Siena, where she developed innovative 3D cellular models to study endometrial receptivity.

During her Master’s, she conducted research at the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine in Edinburgh, working on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) using CRISPR/Cas9. From 2018 to 2020, she was a Research Assistant at Temple University in Philadelphia, applying CRISPR/Cas9 in HIV and melanoma models. She then joined the academic staff at the University of Siena, serving from 2023 as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the PNRR project “Personalised Non-invasive Assisted Reproductive Technologies” and as Adjunct Professor in Human Reproductive Biotechnology.

Her research focuses on reproductive medicine, organ-on-chip models for endometrial studies, endocrine disruptors, and 3D bioprinting for advanced cellular models supporting translational research and assisted reproductive technologies. She is the author of numerous indexed publications and has received international awards, including the ISGE Scholarship (2024) and the IKIGAI Talents grant (2023).
