Giulia Cartocci

Dr. Giulia Cartocci is an Associate Professor of Physiology at UniCamillus Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences, Rome. She earned her PhD in Clinical-Experimental Neuroscience at Sapienza University of Rome, where she also completed her Master’s degree in Neurobiology and Bachelor’s degree in Biology, both with honors. During the PhD she also spent a short research period at University of Colorado at Boulder.

Her research focuses on cognitive and auditory neuroscience, neurophysiology of hearing disorders, consumer neuroscience and neuroaesthetics. She has served as main contact person and task manager in numerous national and international projects, including European Commission–funded initiatives such as ARTIMATION, FITDRIVE, SAFEMODE, TRUSTY, and SMOKEFREEBRAIN. Her studies have contributed to understanding listening effort in cochlear implant users, auditory cognitive processing, and the neurophysiological bases of human perception and decision-making.

Dr. Cartocci has authored approximately 80 peer-reviewed publications, with over 2,100 citations and an H-index of 24 (Google Scholar). Many of her works rank among the top 25% of most-cited papers worldwide. She has been also actively engaging in teaching physiology, at both undergraduate and graduate levels and has supervised dozens of Master’s students and four PhD students.

Dr. Cartocci also serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Neuroergonomics and Editorial Board Member for Brain Sciences. She is an active reviewer for multiple impacted international journals.
