Luca Burratti

Applied Physics - PHYS-06/A

Dr. Luca Burratti, after the Master’s degree in Materials Sciences and Technologies in 2017 at the  University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, obtained a PhD in Industrial Engineering at the same University.

His main research activities are related to the synthesis, characterizations and use of nanomaterials,  such as noble metal nanoparticles/nanoclusters, metal oxides and photonic crystals for environmental  monitoring and decontamination. Specifically, he has developed systems capable of detecting the  presence of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in air and heavy metal ions in water, exploiting the  optical properties of these materials. Furthermore, he has successfully synthesized materials capable  of removing heavy metal ions and photo-degrading plant protection products from water.

The fundamental aim of his research activity is to create economic, easy-to-use and compact systems,  as an alternative to the more complex equipment and techniques that are generally used for these  purposes.

Author of more than 30 scientific publications in international journals, he boasts numerous  participations in field conferences in Italy and abroad.
