Nephrology - MEDS-08-B

Born in Rome on December 29, 1969. Medical degree in Medicine and Surgery, specialization in Nephrology. Holder of a First-Level University Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management and certification for the roles of Director of Complex Units, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Executive Officer within organizations of the Italian National Health Service.

I have been working in the field of clinical nephrology for approximately 25 years, initially during my specialist training and subsequently as a physician within the Italian National Health Service.

I’m currently employed as Director of the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis at Azienda USL Roma 6.

My current clinical interests are mainly focused on the diagnosis and prevention of chronic kidney disease and on clinical activities related to the management of patients with acute kidney injury (AKI).

Alongside inpatient clinical activity (creation of vascular access for hemodialysis, performance of renal biopsies, and management of outpatient clinics), my professional work has primarily developed in the fields of ultrasound diagnostics and the management of the cardiometabolic and vascular aspects of patients with chronic kidney disease.

With regard to ultrasound diagnostics, in addition to being responsible for an ultrasound outpatient clinic, I am a member of the faculty of the Italian Society of Nephrology (SIN) within the national training program in nephrological ultrasonography.

Regarding the cardio-nephrology field, I hold certification of competence in cardiovascular ultrasound issued by the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Echography (SIEC). With the support of the Italian Society of Nephrology and the Cardionephrology Study Group (of which I was a founding member), I organize practical electrocardiography courses for nephrology specialists and theoretical–practical training stages in cardiovascular diagnostics (echocardioscopy, vascular Doppler, BLS and BLS-D courses).

Every two years, as Scientific Director, I organize the International Congress of Cardionephrology, while also being involved in editorial activities in this field in collaboration with Prof. Claudio Ronco, Director of the International Renal Research Institute in Vicenza.

In the field of scientific publishing, I am a member of the Editorial Board of the Giornale Italiano di Nefrologia and Associate Editor of the following international scientific journals: Cardiorenal Medicine, Blood Purification, and International Journal of Urology and Nephrology. All journals are indexed and have an impact factor on Scopus and Google Scholar.
