Dr. Luisa Petraccia earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery (110/110 cum laude) in 2002 from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” where she also completed her residency in Medicai Hydrology (Thermal Medicine) (70/70 cum laude) in 2006. She earned her PhD in Experimental and Clinical Hepatogastroenterology in 2011, also from the University of Rome “La Sapienza.”
From 2013 to 2021, she conducted intense research as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research and Medicai Assistant at leading institutions such as the ltalian Liver Foundation at the University of Trieste, the Basovizza lnternational Research Center (Trieste), and the Gareggi University Hospital at the University of Florence, focusing in particular on Hepatology and Internal Medicine.
From 2022 to 2023, she conducted clinical research at the IRCCS Regina Elena National lnstitute of Oncology in Rome, participating in the RISP (ltalian Lung Screening Network) randomized multicenter study, promoted and funded by the Ministry of Health for lung cancer screening in secondary prevention and smoking cessation in primary prevention.
Dr. Petraccia currently continues her clinical and pharmacological research at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, focusing on Clinical Toxicology (Poison Contro! Center Unit), and at the University of Florence, where she specializes in pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics of chemotherapy.
Her research focuses primarily on hepatobiliary diseases (hepatitis virus infections, mixed cryoglobulinemia), metabolic diseases, pulmonary diseases, and Clinical Toxicology (drug poisoning and intoxication). She also has five years of experience as a Subinvestigator in Clinical Trials (GCP).
Her studies have been published in highly regarded international scientific journals, including Hepatology, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, and The Lancet Regional Health-Europe. She is the author and co author of 30 award-winning papers.
