Marco Infante obtained his M.D. degree with honors at Sapienza University of Rome in 2014. In 2019, he received the Board Certification in Endocrinology and Metabolic Disorders, with honors, at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. In 2019, he joined the Clinical Cell Transplant Program (CCTP) at the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (Miami, FL, USA) as a Research Scholar. In 2023, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Systems and Experimental Medicine (European Ph.D. Label) at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with the final evaluation of “Excellent quality, with honors”.

In 2024, he was appointed Affiliate Associate Professor at the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (DRI Cell Transplant Center, Division of Cellular Transplantation, Department of Surgery – University of Miami Miller School of Medicine), where he has been conducting clinical research in the field of pancreatic islet transplantation, diabetes technology and immunotherapies for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus. 

Since 2020, he has been holding the position of Adjunct Professor of Endocrinology at UniCamillus – Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences – Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (Rome, Italy). Since 2022, he has been serving as Adjunct Professor of Applied Nutrition in Internal Medicine at the Master Degree Course in Human Nutrition Sciences of UniCamillus – Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences (Rome, Italy).  

He is a member of several national and international scientific societies and organizations, including the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the American Nutrition Association (ANA), the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association (IPITA), the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), the Italian Society of Diabetology (SID), the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE), and the Diabetes Research Institute Federation (DRIF), a global alliance of researchers and physicians conducting research in the field of type 1 diabetes mellitus. 

He currently serves as Associate Editor and Academic Editor of the international peer-reviewed journals Frontiers in Clinical Diabetes and Healthcare and Journal of Diabetes Research (Wiley publisher), respectively. Moreover, he currently serves on the Editorial Board of the international peer-reviewed journals Frontiers in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Target Organ Damage, Frontiers in Immunology, and World Journal of Clinical Cases. He also serves as an Ad Hoc Reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals, such as Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism (Wiley), BMJ Open, iScience (Cell Press), eBioMedicine (The Lancet Group), Journal of Diabetes (Wiley), Diabetic Medicine (Wiley), Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, Journal of Diabetes Investigation (Wiley), Canadian Journal of Diabetes (CJD), Endocrine Practice, Journal of Clinical Medicine, Journal of the American College of Nutrition/Journal of the American Nutrition Association, Nutrients, Nutrition & Metabolism (Springer Nature), and European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, among others. He authored more than 70 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and contributed to several invited book chapters and editorials. He gave lectures at national and international scientific meetings, and participated in several national and international training courses, expert meetings, conferences and conventions as a speaker or faculty member. He served as the Academic Editor of the book entitled “Evolving Concepts in Insulin Resistance”, which was published in 2022 by IntechOpen publisher.

He also specializes in Ultrasonography of the Endocrine Neck. He received the Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound and the Advanced Diploma in Ultrasound in Endocrinology, which were issued by the Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB) in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

In 2020, he was appointed Distinguished Supervisor of the international research group “Network of Immunity in Infection, Malignancy and Autoimmunity (NIIMA)”, which is part of the “Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN)”. In 2021, he received the designation as Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN) by virtue of his research activity in the field of “Immunomodulatory Nutrition”. In recognition of his scientific contributions to the field of diabetes mellitus, in 2023 he was inducted, as a Full Member, into the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society, the world’s largest interdisciplinary scientific honor society founded in 1886 at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY, USA). In 2024, the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) granted Marco Infante the U.S. Extraordinary Ability O1 Visa for Extraordinary Ability in the Sciences.
