Verena Damiani

She obtained her degree in Biology and Biomedical Applications from the University of Parma in 2014, and also gained her professional qualification as a biologist that same year. In 2019, she completed her PhD in Biomolecular and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Chieti and Pescara G. d’Annunzio. She then continued her research there as a postdoctoral fellow until 2023. From 2024 to August 2025, she was a research fellow at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome. In 2025, she obtained the specialization in clinical biochemistry and clinical pathology.
Her research focuses on molecular oncology, specifically the role of the BAG3 protein in pancreatic cancer development and progression, as well as in carbohydrate metabolism disorders. She has also contributed to studies on the molecular and serological diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection. More recently, her research has focused on identifying new immunomodulatory agents to improve response to immunotherapy in high-risk neuroblastoma.
She is the author of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed, international scientific journals.
Since September 2025, she has been an RTT researcher (SSD BIOS-9/A (BIO/12)) at UniCamillus – Saint Camillus International University of Health and Medical Sciences.
