Vincenzo Ambrogi

Chest Surgery - MEDS-13/A

Born in Gubbio (Perugia, Italy), he graduated with honors in medicine from the University of Perugia. He achieved the board in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery at Sapienza University of Rome. He  subsequently earned a PhD in Thoracic Oncology from the University of  Tor Vergata in Rome, with research on the surgical treatment of pulmonary metastases, undertaken by means of internships at renowned cancer centers worldwide.

In 2002, he was part of the initial group of doctors who opened the new Tor Vergata Polyclinic.

In 2012, he became Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery and since 2024, he has been a Full Professor of the same subject.

Fluent in English, his interests are broad and focused on humanities such as history, art, and music (he plays guitar and piano), as well as athletics (he is a regular runner, with several half marathons and two marathons).

His fields of work primarily involve thoracic surgery and, most recently, robotic surgery. He has also conducted experimental studies on the chest wall, lung volume reduction surgery in severe emphysema, thoracic surgery in non-intubated patients, and the possibilities of artificial intelligence in surgery.

Prof. Ambrogi is qualified by the University Ministery as a “official referee” (commissario) with more than 150 scientific articles published in journals with an average impact factor of 2.81 and an H-index of 31.
