Graduated in Medicine and Surgery on November 3, 1982, at the Second Faculty of the University of Naples. He is specialized in Cardiovascular Diseases, Sports Medicine, and Internal Medicine. From 1983 to 1998, he carried out scientific work at the Department of Special Medical Pathology at the University of Naples Federico II. During the same period, he worked as team physician for the Stabia Nautical Club, where he was responsible for cardiovascular follow‑up and functional assessment of Olympic athletes from the Italian national rowing team (1983–1993). From 2000 to 2005, he was a member of the National Health Commission of the Italian Cycling Federation, and in 2010 he contributed to drafting the SID (Italian Diabetes Society) guidelines “Screening and Treatment of Ischemic Heart Disease in Diabetic Patients.” He worked as a cardiologist at the Departmental Operational Unit of Endocrinology and Diabetology in Cava de’ Tirreni (SA) and at the Respiratory Pathophysiology Unit of the M. Scarlato Hospital Complex in Scafati (SA) until April 2025. His recent publications focus on new therapeutic technologies for diabetes care (traditional and open‑source artificial pancreas systems). His areas of interest include bioequivalence, cardiovascular risk, cardiometabolism, sports cardiology, and type I and type II diabetes.
