The adjective ‘international’ is practically synonymous with UniCamillus University. Indeed, UniCamillus was founded with the vision of being an international university, as reflected in its original name: Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences.
A good start is half the battle, and our University has certainly maintained its focus on students from all over the world. In the years since its foundation, it has even managed to increase this focus. According to the latest AlmaLaurea report, we are recognised as a University that attracts a high proportion of foreign students, with more than 50% of our graduates being foreign citizens. These students come from over 70 countries spanning all continents: India, Turkey, Israel, Haiti, Japan, the United States, Switzerland, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Nigeria and Australia are just a few of the countries that are most represented.
In line with its mission to educate health professionals with a global and intercultural outlook, our Institution regularly takes part in orientation events around the world. The most recent ones took place in Japan: the Medical School Admission Forum 2025 in Tokyo on 29th June and the forum in Osaka on 21st July.
Organised in collaboration with Med Italy Japan, a key partner supporting Japanese students interested in studying medicine abroad, these events served as an important showcase for our University.
At the Tokyo forum, which welcomed over a thousand visitors, the UniCamillus stand drew particular interest from students keen to study at university in Italy. Our institutional brochure, together with the insights of Med Italy Japan’s guidance experts, effectively highlighted the distinctive features of UniCamillus: it is an international University dedicated solely to medical and health sciences, embracing students from around the globe and equipping them for global careers in healthcare.
The second event in Osaka further confirmed interest in our Institution. On this occasion, the UniCamillus stand hosted Emma Oku, a Japanese student in her second year of the MSc in Medicine. She shared her experience of life at the university and in Rome. Her presence provided a valuable opportunity for authentic exchange with prospective students and their families, offering them a first-hand glimpse of life at UniCamillus.
Most of the participants were first-year high school students, demonstrating that those who choose subjects such as medicine and the healthcare professions often have clear goals and an understanding of the strategic value of long-term investment in our University’s international outreach well before the end of their secondary education.
The next event is the Studiare in Italia fair, organised by the Italian Embassy in Japan in November, providing another opportunity to strengthen ties with the local community and foster interest in UniCamillus’s forward-thinking academic offerings. The growing number of foreign students choosing UniCamillus reflects the constant dedication and passion of both our teaching and administrative staff.
