Foreign Qualifications Verification Certificates and a Certificates of Comparability

CIMEA (Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence)

Since 1986, CIMEA (Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence), the official Italian body affiliated with the NARIC – National Academic Recognition Information Centres of the European Union, has been responsible for managing the recognition procedures of academic qualifications in accordance with the regulations in force in Italy.

CIMEA offers a dedicated service for all students holding a foreign qualification, which includes the issuance of the certificates required at the time of enrollment.

This service, aimed at facilitating admission to academic programmes, is designed to enhance the qualification assessment procedures and to support candidates in producing the required documentation — both in terms of timing and in relation to the number of documents and associated costs.

Requesting certificates from CIMEA

Applicants can request the Statement of Verification and/or the Statement of Comparability directly from CIMEA via the Diplome platform, which is entirely in English.

For further details and to view the service fees, please visit the dedicated page: https://cimea-diplome.it/page-services

Through the Diplome platform, CIMEA issues its statements on a blockchain, allowing qualification holders to securely, easily, and reliably share their qualifications with institutions worldwide.
Students interested in enrolling in degree programmes offered by UniCamillus can create their personal CIMEA Diplome account and manage communication with CIMEA experts directly.

⇒ To create a CIMEA account, please visit the dedicated page

In particular, applicants will be able to:

  • access all the necessary information for requesting Statements of Comparability and/or Verification;
  • consult the “Required Documents” section, which provides a detailed list of the documentation needed for each country to obtain the required statements;
  • download the Consent Form to be signed and attached to the statement request;
  • contact CIMEA directly through the “My Requests” service for any questions or support.

Once ready, the Statements of Comparability and/or Verification will be sent in PDF format directly to the applicant, who can then share them with UniCamillus along with their diploma.

Please Note: if the diploma is not in English, an official Italian translation must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.

IMPORTANT: for qualifications obtained in one of the signatory countries of the Lisbon Convention, the Statement of Comparability is replaced by the ARDI Statement of Correspondence, which can be downloaded free of charge here.

The signatory countries of the Lisbon Convention are:

Therefore, if the qualification was obtained in one of these countries, students will have to submit:
1. CIMEA Statement of Verification
2. ARDI Statement of Correspondence
3. Copy of the diploma (either in English or with an official Italian translation).

For all other countries students will have to submit:
1. CIMEA Statement of Verification
2. CIMEA Statement of Comparability
3. Copy of the diploma (either in English or with an official Italian translation).

The Verification Statement may not be available for some countries because it can be difficult or impossible to check the authenticity of academic documents in certain education systems.
It will be possible to check, within the platform, which services are available depending on the country where the foreign qualification was issued and the level of the qualification.

The submission of the complete documentation must take place after enrollment and in compliance with the deadlines set by the relevant Admission Call.
