Saint Camillus International University of Health and Medical Sciences (UniCamillus) – International Medical University, is an Italian private University that is part of the national University system and issues legally valid degrees, therefore a university exclusively dedicated to Health and Medical Sciences.
UniCamillus received the approval of the University Regulations and Educational Ordinances on June 20th, 2017 by CUN (Italian National University Council) and the accreditation by ANVUR (Italian National Agency of Evaluation for University and Research) on September 5th, 2017.
On November 28th 2017 the Ministry of Education, University and Research signed the Decree which established the University, later registered at the Court of Auditors and published on the Italian Law Official Gazette n. 3 of January 4th, 2018.
By Ministerial Decree No. 621 of 14 August 2025, the University obtained periodic accreditation of its campuses and degree programmes, with an overall evaluation of “SATISFACTORY”.
Subsequently, the Ministry of University and Research accredited the following courses:
– Single cycle MSc in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (accredited for the A.Y. 2020/2021 with Decree No. 742 of 7/10/2020)
– MSc in Human Nutrition Sciences (accredited for the A.Y. 2021/2022 with Decree no. 899 of 19/07/2021)
– MSc in Medicine and Surgery in Italian – Decentralised Campus in Venice (accredited for the A.Y. 2023/2024 with Decree no. 1498 of 9/11/2023)
– MSc in Medicine and Surgery in Italian – Decentralised Campus in Cefalù (accredited for the A.Y. 2024/2025 with Decree no. 1360 of 20/08/2024)
– MSc in Medicine and Surgery in Italian – Rome Campus (accredited for the A.Y. 2025/2026 with Decree no. 653 of 25/09/2025)

The qualifications issued by UniCamillus are valid throughout the whole of the EU
The University is already listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
The qualifications issued by UniCamillus are exactly the same as those issued by the other Italian public universities, and therefore, they are valid throughout the whole EU, pursuant to Directive 2005/36/CE and of Directive 2013/55/UE.
Since 2024, medical graduates in Italy have been eligible to apply for medical residency programmes in the United States as the Italian university system is subject to evaluation by ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes), which has obtained accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
Accreditation by the WFME is an essential requirement for allowing medical graduates in Italy to access medical residency programmes in the United States.
This accreditation is one of the prerequisites set by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), the body that enables foreign graduates to take the exams required to obtain ECFMG Certification, which is necessary to practise medicine in the US.

Students and graduates of the UniCamillus School of Medicine are eligible to apply to ECFMG for ECFMG Certification and for examination.
Canada
Medical degrees obtained from UniCamillus’s Medical School are acceptable to the provincial/territorial medical regulatory authorities in Canada, and therefore acceptable to all medical organizations in Canada.
The reference health authority for student internships is ASL Roma 6, which includes suitable hospital facilities for implementing the integration of care, teaching and research, including the Ospedale dei Castelli. As a result of the recent revision of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regione Lazio, the following hospital facilities have been added: San Camillo Forlanini Hospital, San Giovanni Addolorata Hospital, Sandro Pertini Hospital, CTO Andrea Alesini, Sant’Eugenio Hospital, San Pietro Fatebenefratelli Hospital, Casa di Cura I.N.I. Grottaferrata, Luigi di Liegro Hospital, Casilino Hospital, Cristo Re Hospital, European Hospital, Aurelia Hospital. As can be seen, the University boasts an extraordinary training network for internship activities.
