Biography

Giuseppe F Colloca works as geriatricians at “Fondazione A. Gemelli ”IRCCS of Rome, he is the frailty and supportive care in radio-oncology unit chief and coordinator of the oncogeriatric and supportive care team at the same facility.

The in and outpatient activity is aimed at the assessement and management of the older, complex and frail person in oncology and non-oncology field, the prevention of complications and toxicities related to treatments, the chronic pain treatment and cognitive disorders.

The main research focus is on older patient assessment, supportive care and chronic pain treatment, in the scenario of “tailor made” treatments.

Specialist in Geriatrics and Gerontology, in 2008 he obtained a fellowship in Geriatric Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa US and subsequently in Palliative Care at the Granolliers Center (Spain). MSc in palliative care, PhD in Gerontology at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in 2013.

Director of the SIOG/ASCO Advance Course in Geriatric Oncology.
Coordinator of the second level master’s degree in advanced training in palliative care and pain therapy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome.
National Secretary of GIOGER (Italian geriatric oncology group).
President elected of the Italian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology Lazio section.

He is a member of several national and international scientific Societies, and in panels for national and international guidelines.

Author of numerous book chapters and more than 100 scientific publications in indexed international journals.
