Francesco Di Lorenzo

Physiology - BIOS-06/A (formerly BIO/09)

Biography

Dr. Francesco Di Lorenzo has acquired expertise in the field of non-invasive brain stimulation, dedicating above all to the study of cortical plasticity in patients with Alzheimer’s disease and in particular in the identification of neurophysiological markers that can allow, with the aid of neuropsychological testing, the analysis of CSF biomarkers and the integration with modern Magnetic Resonance techniques, to delineate groups of patients with clinical and electrophysiological characteristics distinct from each other.

At the same time, part of my interests are aimed at understanding the mechanisms of neurotransmitter dysfunction during Alzheimer’s disease, with particular attention to the clinical-pharmacological implications and its impact on the daily life of patients.

Furthermore, he collaborates on neuromodulation projects and the study of the mechanisms of cortical plasticity during other neurological (stroke) and neurodegenerative diseases (dystonia, progressive supranuclear palsy, Parkinson’s disease).
