Biography

Dr D’Offizi graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at University of Rome “La Sapienza” and with a Bachelor degree in Allergology and Infectious Diseases. He received a Certificate of Completion of Training and gained entry to the General Medical Council specialist register of Rome and of Lazio region. From 1988 to 1990, he trained as a consultant in the Palestrina Hospital (Rome). From 1990 to 1996, Dr D’Offizi was in charge of the ambulatory service for HIV disease in the Allergology and Clinical Immunology Unit of the Clinical Medicine Department of Policlinico Umberto l°.

From January 1997, Dr D’Offizi has been performing his profession in the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INMI) “Lazzaro Spallanzani” in Rome, first with an organizational assignment in the Allergology and Clinical Immunology, then with a directorial position of SSO Immunology of Infectious Diseases and later as responsible of the Fourth UOS Clinical Immuno-Infectious Day- Hospital. From 2011, Dr D’Offizi has been UOC Director of Infectious Diseases -Hepatology Department within the Inter-Medical Organ Transplant Department (POIT) – I.R.C.C.S.  L. Spallanzani.

He has an extensive teaching experience as an associate professor in Infectious Diseases assigned in the Nursery Course at University of Rome La Sapienza IIa Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, associate professor in Immunology Nursery Course at University of Rome La Sapienza IIa Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. He also taught Infectious Diseases assigned in the Nursery Course at University of Tirana “Nostra Signora del Buon Consiglio” (Albania).

During the years, his training field in the scientific and clinical activity has been concentrated on allergies, primitive immunodeficiency diseases, HIV disease and clinical diagnosis correlated to it, and generally on the viral, bacterial any fungus infectious diseases. Since 2011, his scientific research activity has been focused on viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver transplant and infections correlated to the liver and kidney transplant.

He is the author of more than 180 publications on international journals peer-reviewed. (H-index > 27)
