Biography

Emiliano Maiani earned his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2013. From 2013 to 2021, he conducted research as a Postdoctoral Fellow and later as a Senior Scientist at the Danish Cancer Society Research Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, working within the Cell Stress and Survival group and the Computational Biology Laboratory. He continues to collaborate with the Danish Cancer Institute as a Visiting Scientist, participating in oncology research projects.

He is currently an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and, since March 2023, has served as the Research Delegate, coordinating the activities of the University’s Integrated Research Center. Additionally, he holds the position of Vice Dean of the Departmental Faculty of Medicine.

His research focuses on cellular signaling mechanisms, with particular emphasis on DNA damage response, cell cycle regulation, autophagy, and apoptosis. His studies have been published in prestigious journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature  Communications, and Nature Methods.

Furthermore, he serves as a peer reviewer for numerous scientific journals and acts as an expert evaluator for national research projects. He is also an Expert Evaluator and Rapporteur for the European Commission within the Horizon Europe program and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships.
