Biography

Prof. Guzzini was born in Rome, graduated in Medicine and Surgery with Honors in 2004. He specialized in 2009 with Honors in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the “Sapienza” University of Rome and, in the same year, obtained the Advanced Techniques in Microsurgery degree from the Italian Society of Microsurgery. Since he was a student, he developed a particular interest in Hand Surgery and reconstructive Microsurgery of the limbs and in sports traumatology of the upper limbs.

He has deepened his knowledge at numerous national and international centers of excellence. He carried out his clinical-surgical activity first as a Research Fellow and then as a Researcher and Associate Professor, at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Unit of the S. Andrea University Hospital in Rome. He held the role for about 5 years as doctor of the national youth basketball teams for the FIP and for about 14 years as medical director of the Italian women’s national football team for the FIGC. He is currently a referent doctor for the upper limb injuries at the Institute of Sports Medicine and Science (CONI). Prof. Guzzini is President and founder of SICM Young, of SICM board of directors as well as a partner and member of numerous scientific societies and editorial committees.

He is the author of numerous national and international publications in the most important sector journals. Over the years he has gained various surgical experiences, performing over 5000 operations as first operator in Hand and Wrist Surgery and in Reconstructive Microsurgery, including the first double corticoperiosteal transplant of the world, for a limb reconstruction.

Since October 2024 he is Associate Professor in UniCamillus.
