Dr. Lionetti graduated from Sapienza University Medical School (Rome, Italy) in 1995 and obtained her specialization in Gastroenterology from Sapienza University Policlinico Umberto I (Rome, Italy) in 1999. During her specialty training, she worked with Prof. Jaume Bosch in the Liver Unit of the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, performing experimental and clinical studies in the field of portal hypertension. She then obtained her doctorate in Methodology in Preventive Medicine and Therapy, from Tor Vergata University (Rome, Italy) collaborating with Prof. Mario Angelico in the Liver Transplant Unit and participating in clinical studies on treatment of viral hepatitis pre- and post-liver transplant. She is an accomplished digestive endoscopist and has worked in several Endoscopy Units, performing both elective and emergency procedures.
Since 2009 Dr. Lionetti is a full-time staff member as a Gatroenterologist/Hepatologist in the Department of Infectious disease/Hepatology-POIT (Inter–Hospital Transplant Center) at the National Institute for Infectious Disease “L. Spallanzani” in Rome. She is responsible for managing patients with chronic liver diseases including those on the waiting list for transplantation, as well as during post-transplant follow-up. In 2019, she obtained the prestigious certification of “Transplant Hepatologist” from the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (Associazione Italiana Studio Fegato, AISF). She is currently a member of AISF and the European Association of the Study of the Liver (EASL), and has co-authored over 60 original articles in the field of gastroenterology and liver disease published in international scientific journals.
