Jessica Diana Rosati

Applied Biology BIOS-10/A (formerly Bio/13)

Biography

Current position: Associate Professor of Applied Biology at UniCamillus University.

Prof. Jessica Diana Rosati has held the position of Head of the Cellular Reprogramming Unit at IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza Foundation since 2017. Since 2017, he has established his own research group, which she still coordinates, consisting of 8 researchers who, using induced pluripotent stem cells, obtained directly from patient cells, as a model system, study the mechanism of occurrence of rare genetic diseases, neurodevelopmental diseases and neurodegenerative diseases.

After graduating in Biological Sciences in 1997, she received his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology (PhD) in 2002 at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and, later, his Specialization in Medical Genetics (2017) at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata.”

She has conducted her studies at several research institutes: the Laboratory of Cell and Developmental Biology of the University of Rome La Sapienza, the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Pathology (CNR), the Laboratory of Vascular Pathology of the Istituto Dermopatico dell’Immacolata and, finally, the Neurogenetics Unit of the IRCCS “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza” Foundation.

She is the author of more than 50 scientific publications in international journals.

During her long experience, she has studied different aspects of cellular functioning, both in physiological conditions and in the presence of genetic mutations that cause neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases. Until 2011, she worked, mainly, on epigenetics, then, she has developed the cell reprogramming technique. From the induced pluripotent stem cells, she developed the technique of producing brain stem cells thus obtaining an accessible source of brain cells for the study and, in the future, for the treatment of neurological diseases.

Since the early 2000s, he has gained experience in writing research projects, both national and international, as PI (Principal Investigator) and/or principal collaborator.

In her career, she has given lectures and seminars at national and international Universities and Research Centers.

She is responsible for numerous scientific collaborations in Italy and abroad.
