Simulators by Accurate in Aesthetic Medicine to reduce complications of facial injections and detect symptoms at an early stage

A UniCamillus second-level CPD Course in Facial Aesthetic Medicine is now open.

Rome, 3rd December 2024—Reducing the risks of injections in aesthetic medicine and ensuring safer and more effective treatments through a training course for professionals working in the field. This is the aim of the agreement signed by Gianni Profita, Rector UniCamillus University, and Patrizia Angelotti, CEO of Accurate (Digit’Ed Group), a leading Italian company in the field of advanced healthcare training specialising in medical simulation.

Accurate will provide students on the CPD second-level course Aesthetic Medicine of the Face: Innovative Theory and Practice with its exclusive line of simulators for advanced training in aesthetic medicine, and will also offer medical practitioners and dentists a course sponsored by UniCamillus. In addition to the use of visors for immersive anatomical navigation, students will be able to practise on BeautySim™, a new aesthetic surgery simulator with advanced tactile feedback. The system includes: a highly realistic head model that allows accurate reproduction of aesthetic facial injection techniques; a sensor-enabled syringe that allows simulation of realistic medication delivery procedures; a 3D environment that allows the user to monitor needle movements and tactile interactions with the head model in real time; and a database of real clinical cases and final reports.

Thanks to this technology, errors in the insertion of fillers into subcutaneous arterial vessels and the incorrect administration of botulinum toxin can be monitored, reducing complications associated with injection procedures through hands-on training in the early detection of symptoms and the subsequent application of correct management protocols. Indeed, the use of simulation in healthcare training makes it possible to practise techniques and procedures in a realistic way, perfecting each gesture in a controlled environment that faithfully reproduces the conditions and challenges of real-life settings, reducing errors without compromising patients’ health.

“UniCamillus is the first institution in the world to use these aesthetic medicine simulators in a university course. This project represents a step forward in medical education. Thanks to the high-tech simulators supported by artificial intelligence, our students can treat clinical cases in real time and immediately observe the results of their treatments in virtual reality. This allows them to analyse errors, weaknesses and strengths, with a feedback system that also assesses the effectiveness of the treatment, all in complete safety on a virtual patient”, comments Antonella Franceschelli, Director of the UniCamillus course.

“We are proud to collaborate with UniCamillus and provide our advanced aesthetic medicine simulator. This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting excellence in medical education and integrating innovative technologies to prepare tomorrow’s professionals for the challenges of a constantly evolving healthcare sector. This project will allow the development of practical and decision-making skills in a controlled environment without risks for patients”, says Patrizia Angelotti, Managing Director of Accurate, a Digit’Ed Group company.
