UniCamillus University: training and qualification programmes for those who want to become secondary school teachers

At UniCamillus University the programmes for initial training and qualification of secondary school teachers are open for the academic year 2023/2024, in accordance with the Prime Ministerial Decree of 4th August 2023.

There are two types of programmes, depending on the requirements of applicants:

  1. PeF training programme 60 ECTS credits. This programme is intended for those holding a degree (Master’s degree, five- or six-year degree, second-level diploma from higher artistic, musical and dance education), or an equivalent qualification. For technical-practical teachers, a higher education diploma allowing access to specific competition classes is required. It is also open to those who are currently enrolled in a degree programme (Master’s degree, five- or six-year degree, second-level diploma from higher artistic, musical and dance education), provided they have obtained at least 180 ECTS credits.
  2. PeF training programme 30 ECTS credits. A programme intended for those who, in the previous five years, have served in state educational institutions or equivalent schools for at least three years, even if not consecutive, of which at least one in the specific competition class chosen to obtain the qualification. It is also accessible to those who have taken the competitive examination relating to the extra procedure referred to in Article 59, paragraph 9-bis of Decree-Law No. 73 of 25th May 2021.

As for the competition classes available at UniCamillus, they are as follows:

  • A028-FI – Mathematics and Sciences
  • A031-FI – Food Science
  • A050-FI – Natural, Chemical and Biological Sciences 
  • B012-FI – Chemical and Microbiological Science and Technology

The total number of available slots is 524; eligible participants will be ranked according to their qualifications.

Lectures will be delivered on days and times that are convenient for working people as well.

For the 60-ECTS-credit PeF programmes, theoretical training activities will be held according to the following schedule:

  • Remotely (live) Monday to Friday, from 2nd September to 4th October 2024, from 4.30pm to 9pm.
  • Face-to-face (at UniCamillus University, Via di Sant’Alessandro 8, Rome) every Saturday from 7th September to 5th October 2024.

For the 30-ECTS-credit PeF programmes, the time commitment will be halved.
