From 16th to 18th March 2023, UniCamillus hosted the 14th Biennial Conference of the Association for Common European Nursing Diagnoses, Interventions and Outcomes (ACENDIO), organized by the Head of the UniCamillus Nursing Degree Programme, Professor Fabio D’Agostino. The theme of the conference was “Nursing-generated data: predictive analytics and eHealth strategies”.
The conference brought together more than 150 participants from 17 different countries (from Africa to Australia, from Europe to North and South America), and saw various scientific sessions on topics such as digital health, the use of standard terminologies, and artificial intelligence in clinical practice.
On the first day, after receiving a warm welcome from Rector Gianni Profita, the delegates were treated to a special opera singing event.
Professor Lisiane Pruinelli from the University of Florida, USA, Professor Ulla Mari Kinnunen from the University of Eastern Finland, Finland, and Professor Gianfranco Sanson from the University of Trieste, Italy, were the keynote speakers at the conference. Three parallel sessions alternated during the course of three days, with 52 oral presentations given by ACENDIO members. One parallel session involved participants in two ACENDIO working groups on “eHealth”.
The ACENDIO General Assembly was held on 17th March. 52 different posters were presented in a parallel session on 18th March. A panel session with four international experts – Professor Kenrick Cato, Professor Lisiane Pruinelli, Professor Steve Johnson and Professor Patrick Weber – inspired and engaged participants on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in nursing. A roundtable discussion with international representatives of the different nursing standard terminologies – FinCC, ICNP, NANDA-I, NIC & NOC, and Omaha System – opened the debate on their use and interoperability.
The conference ended with the awarding of an ACENDIO Grant for the best research project and best poster presented.
UniCamillus University, highlighting the values instilled by scholars from around the world, announced that the next ACENDIO workshop will be held in Oslo in 2024.
