For the second consecutive year, UniCamillus University has sponsored the Corri Casal Monastero race. The event, now in its fifth edition, took place on Sunday, June 11th, along the streets of the neighbourhood where campus is located.
For UniCamillus it was another opportunity to contribute to initiatives aimed at supporting the local community. In addition to purchasing the runners’ bibs, the University funded the prizes for the top finishers of the 10 km marathon.
The route started and ended in front of the church of Sant’Enrico in Via Ratto delle Sabine. Looping around the Casal Monastero local park and entering Via della Torre di Pratolungo, the runners then turned onto Via di Sant’Alessandro, all the way down to campus and back.
There were 315 athletes who crossed the finishing line, but many local residents and outdoor sports enthusiasts also participated in a non-competitive manner in this event, which was also sponsored by the 4th Municipality of Rome and the Regione Lazio. GS CAT Sport Roma, with 47 runners reaching the finishing line, was the sports club with the most representatives.
This year, the men’s race was won by Domenico Liberatore from Podistica Solidarietà, with a time of 33 minutes and 11 seconds, while the women’s race went to Paola Salvatori from US Roma 83, timing 39 minutes and 42 seconds.
