On 26th February 2025 at 11am, the conference ‘Health and innovation in the Mattei Plan: new educational and transcultural perspectives for international health cooperation’ will be held at the UniCamillus Auditorium in Rome (Via di Sant’Alessandro, 30). An opportunity to discuss the challenges of promoting health and innovation in developing countries, strengthening international cooperation and dialogue between Italy and Africa.
During the meeting, the ITESHS (Integrated Transcultural Educational Synergy in Health Sciences) project, funded by the European Union under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and led by UniCamillus together with the University of Chieti-Pescara and the University of Foggia, and aimed at improving higher education and the development of health skills in Africa, will be presented. Thanks to ITESHS, high-quality Italian medical training will become common heritage with Somalia with course programmes in orthopaedics and physiotherapy to treat war wounded patients and with Cameroon and Ethiopia where, through an academic collaboration with two other local partner universities, the foundations for a stronger and more independent health system will be laid.

Kamga (Rector of the Hanseatic Institute of Technology and Applied Sciences (HITAS) in Cameroon), Gianni Profita, (Rector of UniCamillus), Lorenzo Lo Muzio, (Rector of the University of Foggia), Liborio Stuppia (Rector of the ‘G. d’Annunzio’ University of Chieti-Pescara), Kassahun Habtamu (Scientific project coordinator for the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia).
